FATHER of two Eldon Roopnarine who along with his girlfriend was kidnapped on Tuesday night was later beaten to death. An autopsy at the Forensic Science Centre in St James yesterday showed Roopnarine died from blunt force trauma to the head.

According to police, at 7 pm, Roopnarine and his girlfriend Neeta Narine was seated in their black Mazda 323 which was parked near the Waterloo cremation site when they were approached by five men who announced a hold-up.

Reports said the men dragged the woman out of the car and pushed her to the ground. She was then beaten and then thrown into the car's back seat.

Another man, police said, pulled Roopnarine from of the driver’s seat and began to beat him outside the car. Roopnarine was then thrown into the trunk of the car. The men boarded the car and drove to an area in Brickfield Road where they dumped threw Roopnarine's body from the trunk and ordered Narine out of the car. They then drove off.

Narine later told police when she checked on Roopnarine, he was not breathing. She walked several miles before she was able to get help. Villagers contacted Freeport police and officers later found Roopnarine's body.

At the Roopnarine family home in Carapichaima, his mother Dowlath, 63, struggled to maintain her composure. “I can't believe they kill my boy. I can't believe it,” she cried.

She said Roopnarine was in the living room watching a movie with her when he got a telephone call from Narine. “He said, ‘ma I will be back, I going to lime with Neeta.’ That was the last time I saw him alive.” Dowlath said that sometime the following morning (yesterday) she received a telephone call that her son was killed.

“Crime in this country is getting out of control. My innocent boy was killed and for what? His car? They could have taken the car but did not have to kill him. Oh God no!”

Investigators said Roopnarine’s car was found today in an abandoned area in Carapichaima. Homicide Region Three Police are continuing investigations. No arrest has been made.
