Jamaat supports PM on Venezuela position

The Jamaat al-Muslimeen says it supports the Prime Minister and Caricom on its view of non-intervention in the Venezuelan situation.

In a release today the Jamaat also said it also supported the Caricom delegation's recent meeting with the United Nations with the hope of achieving a peaceful resolution to the situation.

"Venezuela is our closest neighbour with whom we have had a good, long-standing relationship. Therefore, we need to remember Jesus' (Peace be upon him) teachings of love thy neighbour as thyself," the release said.

"Our hearts are with the people of Venezuela. Let TT not be divided at this time, but pray for a united, strong, sovereign Venezuela."
