Unidentified man, 6th road fatality

A fire officer from the Chaguanas station was treated for shock on Thursday after she hit a man trying to cross the Uriah Butler Highway near Bick’s Auto Supplies at Bamboo No 1.

The dead man had no form of ID on him.

Around 11.38 am La Toya Johnson, 28, of Laventille was driving north up the Uriah Butler highway when in the far right lane, she collided with a man who was last seen trying to cross the highway.

Johnson stopped and St Joseph police went to the scene along with a district medical officer.

The man was wearing a green and black jersey and grey pants, had greying hair and was of African descent. His body was taken to the mortuary.

Police said this road fatality is the sixth since the start of the year.
