Rev Teelucksingh: Nature is warning TT

PRESBYTERIAN Minister Rev Daniel Teelucksingh says Nature is attempting to get TT to set its moral and spiritual life in order.

This as he commented on major natural occurrences which befell TT this year including an earthquake and devastating floods. He made the observation while speaking at a Christmas morning sermon titled “Voices of Christmas” at the Susamachar Presbyterian Church, Coffee Street in San Fernando.

“The voice of Christmas tells us to watch and prepare. We had a most terrifying earthquake, some way or the other nature speaks to us, we had the most devastating floods, it was not just climate change, was it nature’s voice appealing to Trinidad and Tobago to set our moral and spiritual life in order.”

“Was it nature’s rebellion because so much human blood has polluted and soured the land, the land is rebelling.”

In a sombre, and at times hard hitting sermon, Teelucksingh said the first great Christmas voice, that of the angelic host which announced the birth of Christ to the shepherds were being drowned out by the voice of the “demonic and wicked” King Herod who ordered the slaughter of babies two year and younger.

He said this led to voice of “bitter weeping’ as mothers mourned for their children. “In 2018, in our own time, that mournful voice is heard today, mothers and fathers refuse to be comforted, there has been for this year the sound of bitter weeping, sadness all across this land.

BRING OUT

THE WEED

“500 and more in a little society like ours have been murdered, this pestilence is like a plague and it doesn’t seem we have the answer to all of this.”

“Parents weeping for their children enslaved by drugs. TT is no longer a conduit for narcotics since many of our young men and women are now drug users.” Teelucksingh said the most disgusting voice of modern Trini Christmas is the refrain, “oye, oye, oye bring out the rum.”

He said by next Christmas, there might be another parang refrain given the direction TT is heading regarding the legalising of marijuana.

“Do not be surprised if by next Christmas there is a new parang. For all of 2018 there has been so much pressure from the north Caribbean and at home directed at society and government to recognise cannabis. Yes we are surrendering to that voice. Next year Christmas song will be ‘bring out the rum, bring out the pastelle and sorrel and don’t hide the weed.”
