New police officers receive their badges
Police officers who graduated from the Police Training Academy more than four months ago was on Tuesday presented with their identification badges.
One of the constables who received his new Police ID thanked Newsday for highlighting their plight after which they received their badges.
“After the article was published, all 47 of us received a call on Monday afternoon to come into Crime Scene Investigation Department to collect our badges.
I want to thank you for highlighting the issue because it was really difficult conducting our duties without our badges,” the constable said.
The constable said he felt elated and comfortable knowing he was now complete as a constable to perform his duties.
Newsday reported on October 16, the new officers were unable to perform their duties since they were not issued their Police IDs.
