FIVE people in Sangre Grande and four in Port of Spain were arrested and charged for offences relating to driving under the influence (DUI) of alcohol.

A TTPS press release stated that a road traffic exercise conducted in Sangre Grande between 10 pm on Saturday and 2 am on Sunday led to 67 field sobriety tests being conducted where three people were found to be driving while intoxicated.

Two others refused to provide breath samples for testing. Of the two who failed to provide a breath sample, one was also found to be driving without a permit.

Almost simultaneously, Port of Spain City Police arrested and charged three people for the same offences in the Port of Spain area.

In an exercise paying particular attention to Ariapita Avenue, three persons were arrested and charged for driving under the influence with readings ranging from 47 micrograms to 59 micrograms.
