TT gospel singer and songwriter Stephen John has his eyes set on a Grammy award as his EP The Gospel of Romance has been selected among those making it into the first round ballot of the Recording Academy's 63rd annual process which leads up to the awards.

John is the first artist from TT to be considered for the award thus far. Voting for nominees that will enter the final round opens on December 7, closing on January 4, 2021.

As he awaits an announcement on whether he will have made it to the second round ballot, he prepares to release a Christmas song, Because of Love instrumental which features saxophonist Elan Trotman and Mikhail Salcedo. The single is set for release on November 25.

The annual awards are presented by the US Recording Academy and recognises the achievements of artistes in the music industry.

In a release, John, who has been a gospel music performer for over 20 years, said he has high hopes for nominations in categories including gospel album of the year. He became a member of the Recording Academy in 2017, having submitted his singles Everybody, and the Because of Love remix for consideration in the 60th Grammy Awards.
