Burglar steals nail polish, false nails from San Fernando salon
Police are searching for a burglar who broke into a salon in San Fernando and stole bottles of nail polish, nails, hair products, and a flat iron.
A police report said on October 23, hairdresser Eupheta Nicholls and nail technician Arlene Sookhan unlocked the salon at Santa’s Mall, Pointe-a-Pierre Road, and realised items were missing.
Mall owner Simeon Santa checked footage from the mall’s CCTV camera, which showed a man breaking into the salon. He then entered with a flashlight and left a few minutes later. Before he left, he took a rag out of his bag and wiped the doorknob.
Nicholls and Sookhan, who have worked together at the mall for the past six years, said this was a setback for them.
“Things are already slow because of the pandemic, and now we have to deal with this. We have worked so hard to buy all of the items needed for our business.” Sookhan said.
Nicholls said from the video it appeared the thief was a career criminal.
“It really hurts to know what kind of people are living among us, those who refuse to work hard but steal from others."
Mall owner Santa told Newsday that only recently a man climbed in and stole $8,000 worth of cable from the building. He said within four days after the cable was replaced, it was stolen again. But police caught that thief who is now serving jail time.
Santa said he believes the police will also catch the burglar who stole from his tenants last week.
San Fernando CID are investigating.
