Second CR Highway accident victim dies
CHRISTOPHER Figuera, whose wife died after being hit by a car on the Churchill Roosevelt Highway on Sunday, has also died from injuries he suffered in the same accident.
Police sources said he died on Wednesday morning at the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex.
Figuera and his wife Nicole stopped off at the side of the highway in Trincity to collect soil for their garden.
At the same time the 22-year-old driver of a Nissan Primera lost control of his car and swerved off the road, hitting them both.
Both suffered injuries to their legs and chests. Nicole died on the spot, and Christopher was taken to the hospital, where he remained in a serious condition until Wednesday.
Newsday contacted relatives but they declined comment and asked for their privacy to be respected.
The road fatality toll for the year is 52.
