MoH: Mask, hand sanitiser armour against covid19
Health Minister Terrence Deyalsingh said masks and hand sanitiser serve as people's armour against the covid19 virus. Speaking at Wednesday's media briefing, he said these simple measures are the only protective shields citizens possess.
Deyalsingh described wearing a mask in public as a sign of love. He said it showed people that they are all in this together, showed the healthcare workers their work was appreciated, and showed parents and families they are loved as the mask wearer would not bring the virus back to them.
Deyalsingh said now that the economy is being reopened, the onus rests on individuals, families and groups to protect themselves and those around them. He urged people to follow the simple, inexpensive measures of wearing a mask, washing hands, sanitising surfaces, staying home when ill, etc. As an additional measure, he said people should walk with napkins to cough/sneeze into, as well as to use in opening doors.
CMO Dr Roshan Parasram said there are 85 people at quarantine facilities, with 59 at the UWI Penal/Debe Campus, five at the Cascadia Hotel and 21 at Tacarigua.
