THE Trinidad and Tobago players were ruthless at the International Tennis Federation World Junior Tennis tournament in the Dominican Republic on March 5, as they did not drop a set against The Bahamas.

Both the TT boys and girls won 3-0 over The Bahamas. Makeda Bain, Cherdine Sylvester and Cyra Ramcharan are representing TT in the girls’ competition. Ramcharan got past Mariana Bostwick 6-3, 6-1; Bain eased past Caitlyn Pratt 6-1, 6-0; and Bain and Sylvester breezed past Bostwick and Pratt 6-0, 6-0 in a doubles match.

The TT boys were equally convincing. Chris Khan grabbed a comfortable 6-1, 6-1 win over Harrison Van Onselen and Josiah Hills eased past Ethan Newbold 6-3, 6-1 in the other singles match. Khan then teamed up with Oliver Harragan in a doubles match and defeated the pair of Van Onselen and Julius Williams 6-1, 6-2.

Earlier this week, the TT boys defeated Bermuda 3-0. Khan whipped Manuel Maldonado 6-1, 6-0; Hills cruised past Raul Maldonado 6-0, 6-0; and Hills and Harragan got past Raul and Trystan Thompson 6-0, 6-0.

The TT girls also won their contest over Guatemala 3-0. In the singles matches, Bain was a 6-1, 6-3 winner over Juliana Alvarado and Ramcharan defeated Valencia Schaeffer 6-4, 6-2.
