Pattern we can all learn from?

THE EDITOR: Is there a pattern here that we can all learn from, especially the leaders in government?

We have just witnessed another very poor performance of our national athletes at the just concluded Paris Olympics. This makes two consecutive times at the Olympics when we have failed to medal, both occurring under the leadership of a minister of sports who admitted (as far as my memory serves me) that she had no experience in professional sports or even at representing our country in sport at any level.

Now compare that with the police service currently being led or headed by a person who did
not admit she lacked experience at all levels of policing but the poor results of her crime-fighting strategies, many administrative blunders and her demeanour when being interviewed surely strongly suggest that is the case.

The question therefore that would naturally come to mind is: Is nepotism and political expedience the cause of the demise of our major institutions in this country?

I ask this on behalf of my good friend, John Public.
