NCC Carnival stakeholder meetings postponed
A series of meetings with various Carnival stakeholders and chaired by the National Carnival Commission (NCC) have been postponed.
The commission advertised the meetings last week and said they were to “get feedback on Carnival 2024 and ideas for Carnival 2025.”
Media, vendors, mas, pan and calypso fraternities, police and fete promoters were among the stakeholders.
The series of meetings were to take place from July 8-30 at the VIP Lounge, Queen’s Park Savannah, Port of Spain.
Interested people were asked to confirm attendance and were told limited spaces were available but there was also supposed to be virtual participation.
However, on July 5 the commission issued a statement saying that the meetings were postponed.
It said, “We regret to advise that due to developments out of our immediate control, our Carnival stakeholder meetings 2024 have been postponed.
“Based on the initial responses and feedback, we know that many of you were interested in being a part of this initiative. As we work to keep you informed, we sincerely thank all who have registered and expressed interest. Keep it here for more updates!”
The commission could not give new dates for the meetings when contacted for further comment.
