Marubeni Power International donates US$10,000 to Christ Child Convalescent Home

Marubeni Power International Inc has donated US$10,000 to Christ Child Convalescent Home in Diego Martin.

In making the presentation, COO/managing director Caribbean of Marubeni Mo Majeed noted the company has supported several initiatives focused on children, the elderly and education in TT, a media release said.

"We are happy to make a donation to Christ Child Convalescent Home in their continued efforts to provide a stable life and a beacon for these kids,” Mo Majeed said in the release.

He said the company also seeks to enhance the quality of life in the local communities where it operates around the world.

“We find that there is always a need or a cause to which we can offer our support,” Mo Majeed said.

Manager of the home Sister Annunciata De Souza of the Corpus Christi Carmelite Sisters said the home can finally upgrade the laundry room and bathrooms.

“I always have projects earmarked and waiting for funding to come in – the timing was good,” she said in the release. She expressed her gratitude for the donation.

The home's residents include ten girls and ten boys, five to 14 years old, all receiving round-the-clock care and supervision by dedicated staff, the release said. The home caters to children who have been abandoned, abused or sent there through the court system and the Children’s Authority of TT.

Sr Annunciata said, “We make sure all the money is spent on the children – they are good children, we must give them a chance.”

Marubeni officials toured the venue on June 20 and were pleased to see the recent renovations and refurbishments, the release said.

“We are thankful to the staff for letting us in and allowing us to help in some small way towards the work you do here,” Mo Majeed said.
