Ex-judge pleads guilty to failing to give 'breath test,' discharged
A FORMER vice-president of the Industrial Court has been discharged by a magistrate on a charge of failing to submit a specimen of breath for a breathalyser test.
The discharge of Ramchand Lutchmedial came when he pleaded guilty to the 2014 charge on June 25.
Lutchmedial entered into a plea discussion with the State in January.
Magistrate Duane Murray accepted the plea agreement and discharged Lutchmedial of the offence.
Lutchmedial was represented by Israel Khan, SC, and Arissa Maharaj.
In December 2014, Lutchmedial was stopped by officers in Chase Village during a routine police exercise by officers of the Central Division.
He was asked by the officers at the scene to present a specimen of breath as they believed he was driving under the influence of alcohol.
The State was represented by Keston Abraham.
