Siparia man dies in M2 Ring Road accident

AN accident on the M2 Ring Road, Debe, on Thursday, has claimed the life of Nigel Mendes.

Mendes, 42, of 120 Coora Road, Siparia, was pronounced dead on the scene by DMO Dr Rajnarinesingh.

He was found in an unresponsive position under his overturned vehicle, which was partially submerged in a drain.

Around 3.20 pm, police constables Dass and Ramkhalawan, who are assigned to the La Romaine Police Post, were on mobile patrol along M2 Ring Road when they observed the overturned white Nissan B 14, in a drain on the northern side of the roadway.

Further checks revealed Mendes, who appeared to be the lone occupant, under the vehicle.

Checks by emergency medical technicians Mohammed and Neaves who also responded, found no signs of life. The DMO was then contacted and made his pronouncement, ordering the removal of the body to the San Fernando Mortuary, pending a post mortem.

The vehicle was wrecked to the San Fernando police station.
