Lawyer submits nomination for Imbert's seat
ATTORNEY Raydon Dalrymple-Watts has thrown his hat in the ring to become the People’s National Movement (PNM) candidate for the Diego Martin North/East seat in this year’s general election.
The seat is currently held by Finance Minister Colm Imbert, who has represented the area since 1991.
Imbert has not yet publicly said if he intends to contest the seat or even if he will put himself up for consideration for the election.
In a letter sent to the constituency chairman Spencer Tardieu dated January 28, Dalrymple-Watts, 36, described himself as a “son of Diego Martin,” who is deeply committed to the party’s values.
“I have lived the experiences of the constituency and share the values and aspirations of its people.
“My career – spanning roles in private practice, advocacy for the vulnerable and public service at the highest levels – has been driven by a passion for serving others and advancing meaningful change.”
He has been a member of the party since 2017 and his mother Donna served as the public relations officer for Orville London during his time as Chief Secretary of the Tobago House of Assembly.
Dalrymple-Watts is a senior legal counsel in the Attorney General’s Secretariat, and has also worked at the Children’s Authority and the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.
