Man charged after dog beheaded set to appear in court
A 39-year-old man from Pleasantville, San Fernando, who was allegedly caught on video beheading a dog over the weekend, is set to appear before a master in the High Court on January 10.
On January 9, police sources confirmed that the man was charged with four offences – cruelty to an animal, possession of a weapon (a knife), possession of 14 grammes of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking and possession of a device used to smoke cocaine.
PC Huggins laid the charges.
San Fernando police held the man after disturbing footage of the incident began circulating on social media on January 5.
In the video, a man is seen sitting on the pavement along High Street before walking away while holding the dog's severed head.
The man is expected to appear in the South Criminal Court.
