Cops hold 3, seize guns in anti-crime exercises
Police from the Western and Northern Divisions held three suspects and seized three guns and quantities of ammunition, marijuana and cocaine in ongoing anti-crime exercises.
A police statement on November 22 said Western Division Task Force officers were on an exercise in the Northern and Western Divisions between 12. 45 pm and 8 pm on November 20 and got a tip-off about a man seen hiding “two objects” near a mango tree in the Valsayn district.
They responded, searched the area, and found a quantity of marijuana.
In the West End district, officers of the Western Divisional Gang and Intelligence Unit and the West End CID arrested a 33-year-old suspect from Diego Martin for having a pistol loaded with a quantity of ammunition.
That exercise took place between 4.10 pm and 6.15 pm on November 21.
In the Arima district, Intelligence and Operations Team officers held an exercise between 1 pm and 4 pm on November 21.
They went to the Heights of Guanapo, where they searched a bushy area at the back of a house and found a pistol loaded with a magazine containing five rounds of ammunition and a revolver.
Task Force officers, in an exercise between 2 pm and 6 pm in the Arima district, seized quantities of marijuana and cocaine were seized and arrested two suspects for various offences.
Investigations are ongoing.
