Central Division police believed they had prevented a shooting that possibly might have ended in murder, having arrested a 20-year-old man outside a bar in Point Lisas before dawn on July 28.

The suspect, of Concerned Citizen Street in California, was held with a gun and ammunition in an anti-crime exercise in the Couva and Freeport police districts between 2 am and 5 am.

Around 3.30 am, the police received information and went to Rampy’s Bar at Atlantic Plaza in Point Lisas.

PC Cummings searched the suspect who was standing at the side of the building.

The police found a black and grey Taurus pistol with a magazine and 17 rounds of 9 mm ammunition on his waist.
