POLICE are investigating the circumstances where a man was killed in a fight that erupted outside a Gran Couva bar shortly after midnight on July 21.

Police said Julien Hall, 41, of Emmanuel Junction, Tabaquite was stabbed several times in an altercation outside Ecstasy bar by a man known to him. Hall was taken to the San Fernando General Hospital where he later died.

CCTV footage sent to Newsday showed Hall, dressed in white, standing on the pavement across the road from the bar, apparently speaking to a man in blue some distance away on the sidewalk.

However, around 12.54 am, Hall was seen closing the distance between them and hitting the man. The man in blue grabbed onto Hall and hit him several times in the torso as the men stumbled and fell to the ground near the bar’s car park.

During the scuffle Hall’s white t-shirt quickly turned red in the chest area before he fled from the altercation. A few seconds later, he was seen walking back toward the bar, his t-shirt now soaked with what appeared to be blood.

The camera footage ended there.

Newsday was unable to find out what happened next, other than police confirming that Hall died at hospital.

Hall is one of three people killed in Southern Trinidad between the evening of July 20 and the morning of July 21.

Around 6 pm on July 20, Keston Alexander was gunned down at his Rio Claro home while taking a shower by two masked assailants.

Police said the 23-year-old labourer was bathing in an outside area of his Poole Valley Road, Guayaguayare Road, Rio Claro home around 6 pm when two masked gunmen approached and shot at him several times.

Alexander attempted to run away through his home and onto the roadway but fell near his neighbour’s gate where the attackers shot him.

Two men who were nearby were hit by stray bullets, one in his shin and the other on his wrist. The man who was shot in his shin visited the Rio Claro Health Facility while the other refused treatment.

District medical officer Dr Baxam pronounced Alexander dead and ordered his body removed pending post-mortem examination.

Crime scene investigators retrieved several spent nine-millimetre shells.

Also on July 21, a 22-year-old woman from Johnstone Street, San Fernando was pronounced dead around 4.49 am after she was hastily dropped off unresponsive at the San Fernando General Hospital’s accident and emergency department around 2 am by an unknown vehicle.

She had marks of violence on her body and is believed to have been beaten to death by her abusive boyfriend.

Last weekend also saw three murders recorded in Southern Trinidad. Rio Claro businesswoman Carissa Ramrattan was gunned down outside a Toyota dealership in Tarouba, San Fernando on July 13.

Meanwhile, the bound, decomposing body of missing TT RideShare driver Shakem Charles was discovered in a bushy area off Sunrees Road, Penal.

On July 14 a bullet-riddled body was found in Ste Madeleine which, up to July 19, had not been identified by police.
