Homes damaged by wind, fallen trees in Delaford

HOMES were damaged by high winds and fallen trees in Delaford, Tobago on July 1, but fortunately, the island was spared the full wrath of Hurricane Beryl.

The island was bracing for the devastating effect of a direct hit, but the hurricane veered northwards instead.

Tobago still felt its impact with heavy rain and strong winds.

Two breadfruit trees fell on the home of Cleatus John in Delaford on July 1, damaging the spouting and part of the roof.

The roof of another Delaford home was partially ripped off by the wind overnight. Residents were busy trying to tie it back in place when Newsday visited.

A tree fell on another house, but its residents were not home at the time.

Power in the area went around 7am and was not yet restored by 2pm.
