[UPDATED] Kidnapped businesswoman found alive

KIDNAPPED businesswoman Anesha Narine-Boodhoo has been found alive and unharmed, with no ransom paid.

Snr Supt Mervyn Edwards, police North Eastern Division, said this in a WhatsApp voicenote sent on Tuesday.

Edwards said on Tuesday morning, Narine-Boodhoo was reunited with her family and taken to be medically examined, describing her as in good health.

He said Narine-Boodhoo was in police custody, being interviewed by members of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit and detectives from the North-Eastern Division, calling it standard police procedure.

Edwards ended by saying investigations were ongoing and when more information was gathered, the public would be updated by the police's corporate communications.

No other details of her return have been given and calls to the police corporate communications department went unanswered.

On Tuesday evening, Newsday visited Narine-Boodhoo's El Socorro business place and home, which were both locked up. Newsday tried to speak with nearby residents, but no one was willing to answer any questions.

Last Friday around 8.30 am, Narine-Boodhoo, co-owner of auto parts supplier Autorama Ltd, was in her white Toyota Prado when a black Toyota Rush with blue swivel lights pulled in front of her, blocking her path.

Three men got out and briefly talked to her before dragging her out of her own vehicle and into theirs. They then drove off.

On Saturday, police found what they believed to be the vehicle used in the kidnapping burned and abandoned in Caroni.
