Ayanna Webster-Roy, Minister in the Office of the Prime Minister with responsibility for Gender and Child Affairs, is in Georgetown, Guyana, attending the region’s first Ministerial Forum on Gender Equality and Empowerment Towards the 2030 Agenda.

She is accompanied by director of the Gender Affairs Division, Shelley-Ann Hart.

The forum, which ends on Friday, brings together government ministers and officials of Caricom with responsibility for gender, welfare, social services and social protection.

They are expected to share national experiences and successful strategies towards developing robust national and regional models towards the 2030 Agenda.

The forum will provide Trinidad and Tobago with the opportunity to engage in discussions about the challenges and opportunities in moving towards gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls. The Spotlight Initiative experience and national strategies emanating from it will also be a focal point of these discussions.
