SPORTS photographer Anthony Harris is in critical condition after being hit by a car while riding a bicycle around the Queen’s Park Savannah in Port of Spain, on Saturday morning.

Harris rides around the Queen’s Park Savannah regularly with other cyclists as they are allowed to use the inside lane.

The incident occurred close to President’s House.

On Saturday afternoon, a family member told Newsday Harris had brain surgery following the accident. He is in need of blood.

A report was made to the Belmont Police Station.

Shortly after the accident photographer David Wears said on Facebook, “I would like (to) ask that prayers and positive thoughts be said while he undergoes surgery to release pressure in his brain, which is being done right now.” It is understood that the driver of the car did not stop.

Many cyclists have been injured or killed in recent years. The TT Cycling Federation and other cycling groups have made an effort to make drivers aware of cyclists on the road through the Share the Road campaign.
