As Scotiabank continues to make changes to its management and operations across the region, there is a new appointment to the post of vice president of retail and small business banking.

Effective May 3, the bank said, Savon Persad will have oversight in the Caribbean, Central America and Uruguay region in which it operates.

Persad was previously vice president of retail and small business banking in south and east Caribbean territories, Scotiabank said in a media release on Wednesday. Persad has been with Scotiabank since 1994 and has held progressively senior roles primarily in the areas of retail and small business banking and corporate and commercial banking.

Executive vice president for Caribbean, Central America and Uruguay Anya Schnoor said, “Persad was well known throughout the region as a strong partner. Under his leadership, he has built a winning team that has delivered consistently solid results including increasing market share, and excellent sales and performance efficiency.

“I am very pleased to have him join the wider regional team as we continue to build an even better bank.”

Persad will be responsible for driving the design, delivery and financial performance of the region’s retail, small business, digital, payments and analytics strategy.
