81 new covid19 cases, active cases now 1, 023

There are 81 new covid19 cases, according to the Health Ministry's Wednesday update.

This takes the total since March 2020 to 9,216 cases. The results come from samples taken between April 18 and 20.

Active cases also increased to 1,023. The death toll remains at 157. To date 21,231 people, or 1.57 per cent of the population, have been vaccinated with the AstraZeneca vaccine.

There are 96 people in hospital. There are 64 people at the Couva Hospital and Multi-Training Facility, of whom four are in the Intensive Care Unit and eight in the High Dependency Unit. Seventeen people are at Caura Hospital and 15 are in the Scarborough Regional Hospital, Fort King George.

Six people are in UWI, Debe's step-down facility, 310 in state quarantine facilities and 840 at home in self-isolation.

The number of people who have recovered since March 2020 is 8,036.
