President: Trinidad and Tobago stands with SVG

President Paula-Mae Weekes has extended her "heartfelt wishes" to people in St Vincent and the Grenadines as the country experiences the eruption of La Soufriere volcano.

"On behalf of the people of Trinidad and Tobago, Her Excellency extends heartfelt wishes for the best possible outcome to Governor General Dame Susan Dougan and all citizens of St Vincent and the Grenadines," was posted on her Facebook account on Friday.

Weekes said the country stands in solidarity with the country in crisis.

"Please be assured that we stand in solidarity with you, our Caribbean sisters and brothers, at this trying time. May God be with you all."
