16 new covid19 cases

Sixteen new covid19 cases were reported on Sunday, bringing the total to 7,855, with active cases now at 154.

The Ministry of Health’s 4 pm covid19 update said the 16 were from samples taken between March 18 to 20.

Among the 154 active cases, 12 are in hospital. There is no one at any of the step down facilities, and 126 are in home self-isolation.

Deaths remain at 140, the number in state quarantine facilities is 314, and recovered patients is 7,561.

Speaking at the virtual press briefing on Saturday morning, technical director of epidemiology Dr Avery Hinds said the previous seven-day rolling average was three cases per day, but now it was around eight due to some “cluster activity.”
