The TT Express catamaran fast ferry has been sold to Servicios y Concesiones Maritimas Ibicenca, a bookings, transportation, and vehicle rentals maritime company in Spain.

Chairman of the National Infrastructure Development Co Ltd (Nidco) Herbert George told Newsday on Tuesday that the vessel was sold for a little over US$3 million.

When Newsday contacted George for an update on the sale, he said, “The TT Express has been sold. The selling price was US$3, 022,000. We executed a memorandum of agreement that was signed on February 25, 2021.”

The boat was bought in 2006 for $20 million.

In July 2018, the Prime Minister announced the government had decided to sell it after it experienced several electrical and mechanical issues that would cost the government over US$10 million in repairs.
