UNC senator on internal election: PNM still the enemy
Senator for the UNC Damian Lyder is urging the party's membership not to get carried away by the strife of internal elections and lose focus of their true enemy, the PNM.
Speaking at the virtual conference for Kamla Persad Bissessar's Team Star on Monday night, Lyder said the PNM under the leadership of Dr Keith Rowley has brought TT to ruin.
He also accused Persad-Bissessar's opponent in the internal elections, former government minister Vasant Bharath, of being out of touch with the needs of the party and urged members to choose wisely for the elections on December 6.
"That Englishman Vasant Bharath, he is not the enemy, he is sitting down drinking Earl Grey tea and eating cucumber sandwiches with knife and fork, neither is the enemy his slate of bitterness. The real enemy is Keith Christopher Rowley and his PNM party.
"It is this wicked PNM that brought this country to its knees. Decimated the rights of citizens, this PNM broke down our social services all of this while they spent every waking moment to wholesale the assets of our country to foreigners and friends."
Lyder also accused National Security Minister Stuart Young of leaving TT's citizens abroad while allowing illegal immigrants to enter TT by the hundreds unhindered.
In the face of TT's current challenges owing to immigration and the covid19 pandemic, Lyder said Bharath and his team were incapable of leading the party to victory against the PNM.
