Man tries to hide loaded gun in plant

A MAN who tried to hide a loaded gun by moving it from the waist of his pants into a plant was caught.

According to a police report at about 1.15 am PCs Boochum, Raghoonanan, and George, were on foot patrol along Hankey Street in San Fernando when they saw the 28- year- old man. Reports said the man looked in the direction of the police and began to run.

The policemen chased behind him along the street.

When the man turned a corner, reports said he was seen removing a gun from the waist of his pants and then hid it inside a plant along the street.

The man then continued running through a track along the nearby Mt Moriah road. The policeman continued to chase him. Within minutes he was captured.

Reports said police went back to the location of the plant where they found a 45 calibre pistol outfitted with a magazine with nine rounds of 45 calibre ammunition hidden.

The man is expected to be charged.
