Man shot in neck, police capture suspect

A Cunupia man is now in hospital after he was shot in the neck by another man. The suspect was captured by police and charged with wounding with intent. He is expected to face a Chaguanas magistrate on Monday. A police report said, about 5.30 pm on Thursday, the victim was standing near Jerningham Junction in Cunupia when the gunman approached and shot him.

Police said the two men knew each other and had a conversation, during which the shooter pulled a gun out of his bag, shot the other man and ran away.

A passerby came to the victim’s assistance.

He was taken to the Chaguanas Health Facility and transferred to the Eric Williams Medical Science Complex for emergency surgery.

Police from the CIDs operational unit captured a suspect who was arrested and charged by PC Bacchus.
