Guaracara Tabaquite Main Road an obstacle course

Residents of Williamsville said driving along their main road when it rains has now become an obstacle course due to the many potholes.

The main road at Guaracara Tabaquite, they said, has not been paved for over 10 years and is now covered with potholes which have led to many car accidents.

They are again calling on the roads to be fixed immediately before someone is injured in a car accident.

One resident said it was unfair that housing developments such as Corinth Hills and Harmony Hall are freshly paved and the main road is left in disarray.

“They have paved many roads in different districts three and four times in a year and we have been forgotten.” the resident said.

He said that in 2009 was the last time the roads were paved. These roads he said have begun to deteriorate over the years.

They said that because of a lack of maintenance the roads worsen and they are forced to spend thousands of dollars on repair work.

Councillor for the area Alivn Keyreed Daniel said the residents may not protest but they are fed up.

He said the residents are calling on the Minister of Works and Transport Rohan Sinanan to intervene and ensure that the Guaracara Tabaquite Road is paved, or at least properly refurbished.

The residents have also signed a petition online with over 2,000 signatures calling for repair work to be done on the main road.
