DNA tests needed to ID human remains found in Couva
Although DNA testing is needed to identify the skeletal remains found in Couva on Sunday, police believe they may be those of a man who went missing in 2017.
On Sunday evening, a passer by saw the remains in a bushy area at Exchange Lots and contacted police.
Police found a wallet with documents and a name written on one of them.
They believe the remains may be those of doubles vendor Dhanraj Adesh Juman, from Baksh Settlement in McBean, Couva. He was last seen on September 25, 2017, at a bar in Korea Village in Carapichaima.
A few days later, police found his Nissan Wingroad at Chandernagore Road, Chaguanas. It had been abandoned and scrapped in some bushes.
Police are hoping to take samples from relatives for DNA testing to confirm the identity.
Central Division and Homicide Bureau Region III police are investigating.
