Drive-by memorial for Chapman
FAMILY and friends of former TT Olympic Committee (TTOC) president Alexander B Chapman can pay tribute to him and his late wife Margarita during a drive-by memorial, on Saturday.
Chapman, 93, died last Saturday. Chapman was a former national weightlifter who helped push TT’s Olympic movement. People can visit 33 Western Circle, Westmoorings to sign a reception book at the gate between 3 pm and 4.30 pm. The family is encouraging people to play old time soca music, as this was Chapman’s favourite music.
On Friday, due to covid19 restrictions, a small funeral was held for Chapman at St Finbar’s Roman Catholic Church in Diego Martin, before his body was cremated at the Long Circular Crematorium.
TTOC president Brian Lewis said it was sad that Chapman could not get a fitting send-off after giving so much to TT sport.
