Le Hunte: Water production back up

PUBLIC UTILITIES Minister Robert Le Hunte today said the maintenance issues at the Point Lisas desalination plant, based on his latest information, were resolved and production was back up to its required level.
This comes after the Water and Sewerage Authority (WASA) announced a disruption in the pipe borne water supply to central and south west Trinidad on January 4 due to a cutback in production at the desalination plant.
When asked if the problem had been resolved, Le Hunte said, “With regard to the water, WASA has put out a release as it relates to the maintenance issues at the desalination plant and based on my latest information from them, those matters were resolved and production is back up to the required level. It should have been back up at the required level as of 12 pm today.”
