Ex-cop from Venezuela arrested with guns and ammo at beach

A FORMER Venezuelan policeman was arrested at a beach in Cedros yesterday with six guns and seven rounds of ammunition.
The 27-year-old man, who lives in Tucupita, remains in police custody. Police said he speaks English.
At about 2.30 pm, police were on a covert operation in Bois Bourg Village when they saw the man walking along the shore, carrying a white crocus bag and a blue knapsack.
Police from the South Western Division Task Force searched the crocus bag and found four shotguns and a 12-gauge cartridge. They also found two revolvers and six rounds of .38mm ammunition in the knapsack.
Once charged, the man will appear before a Point Fortin magistrate.
PC Ramdass is investigating.
