No lights for police town meeting
Tobago Police was forced to cancel a town meeting at Crown Point Milford Court last Wednesday because there was no lighting for the venue.
The town meeting was originally scheduled for 7pm at the Pan Am building in Crown Point but was moved to Milford Court two days before the Wednesday date. Newsday Tobago was told that there was a miscommunication between the PanAm building operators and the organisers of the police town meeting.
On Wednesday, at Milford Court the tent, chairs for attendees and a head table for police officials was in place but there were no lights
An hour after the meeting was supposed to start, one bulb was sourced but the light wasn’t enough to allow for a start the meeting.
Villagers who came out to voice their views on crime and violence waited in the dark and along the pavement outside Milford Court before finally leaving the venue. Others who stayed were eventually told the meeting was postponed to a date to be announced.
