Reggae/soca artiste Brendon ‘I-sasha’ Young was a clear favourite with patrons at last Sunday’s Plymouth Jazz at Dawn Breakfast Fest.

Hosted by the Plymouth Bethesda Heritage Development Foundation in collaboration with API Record Label’s Avery Seaton, at the New Peter’s Restaurant & Bar on North Street, Plymouth, patrons were treated to performances by keyboardist Sesalito Cris McCoon, Adana Roberts, Prince Unique, Jhevon ‘Royal’ Jackson and Akeeda Clarke.

Two-time Tobago Soca Monarch winner, Jhevon ‘Royal’ Jackson, performs a duet with soloist Akeeda Clarke at last Sunday’s Jazz at Dawn at the New Peter’s Restaurant & Bar in Plymouth.

Seaton told Newsday Tobago that following the relocation of the Tobago Jazz Festival from Plymouth, members of the Foundation took up the challenge in 2017 developing the Jazz at Dawn event with the main intention being to return jazz to its birthplace in Tobago.

“The long-term hope is to see a boost in community-based businesses which includes local chefs, cooks, business owners and hotels in Plymouth, who all experienced a loss since the Festival’s departure,” said Seaton, adding that the effort will also see the promotion of performers from Tobago and Trinidad, and build interest in jazz. Here are some highlights from the event.
