Sad day for the police

THE EDITOR: When I heard that a policeman had confessed to assisting Vicky Boodram to escape, I thought what a sad day for our police. There is absolutely no excuse for this kind of behaviour.

What bothers me is that while efforts are being made to change the way citizens see the police, the image of the service is being dragged down by acts like this and other criminal conduct.

There are many hard-working, committed and dedicated officers in the service, but the few bad apples are doing a good job in tarnishing the police.

Early in the year it was said that all would be done to get rid of the rogue elements. I, therefore, encourage those in charge to continue that process for it is clear the rogues are still there.
