Letter writing winners
Pupils of TML Primary School, St Joseph and the ASJA Girls’ College, San Fernando are the winners of the TT Postal Corporation’s (TTPost) National Letter Writing Competition.
The annual competition is designed to encourage literacy in young people and develop their composition skills. The contest also enlightens them on the important role postal services play across the world, a media release stated.
The theme chosen by the Universal Postal Union (UPU) for the competition was Imagine you are an Advisor to the new UN Secretary General, which world issue would you help him tackle first and how would you advise him to solve it?
Some 342 entries were received from 37 primary schools and 21 secondary schools. They were judged by lecturers from the Faculty of Modern Languages and Linguistics of the University of the West Indies.
The winning compositions were entered into the international competition, hosted by the UPU.
The prizes were presented at a function on Thursday at the Regent Star Hotel, Piarco.

3rd- Safiyyah R Nanlal, TML Primary School, St Joseph
Secondary School
1st - Sheneeza Ramgosine, ASJA Girls’ College, San Fernando
2nd – Leann Ramkissoon, ASJA Girls’ College, San Fernando
3rd - Kareemah Baksh, ASJA Girls’ College, San Fernando
