Garcia off his rocker?

THE EDITOR: Is the Minister of Education, Anthony Garcia, going off his rocker, or is it time for him to be given a rocker? Pray tell?

His recent comment referencing fighting in school “is a way of life, part of growing up” is pure poppycock, gobar, rubbish and utter nonsense!

What is he saying to schoolchildren, is no big thing to fight in school?. Let me tell Mr Garcia, when I used to go to school fighting was outlawed and came with serious consequences, even suspension...or expulsion! As matter of fact, if you fight in school, and your mother or father get to find out, or is called by the teacher or principal, you are trembling like a leaf. Your parent made it clear that you are going to school to learn, not to fight, and that’s how it should be.

Mr Garcia, fighting, or bullying, in school is not to be tolerated at no time in the school system. Principals, deans of discipline or teachers must intervene. Children must know what time it is, as school discipline is paramount. Students who resort to the use of weapons (pencils, pens, knives, guns etc) must face the police. Going forward into the new year, there must be zero tolerance of school indiscipline. Mr Garcia, a former principal, must support principals and teachers as they try to tame this monster of school indiscipline.
