Maxis transporting students crash in Tobago
TWO maxis transporting students in Tobago crashed into each other on October 21 after one of them reportedly had a brake failure. The incident happened around 2.50 pm on the Claude Noel Highway near Darrel Spring walkover.
Secretary of Education Zorisha Hackett, in a statement, said emergency services arrived promptly "and we are grateful that the situation was not worse."
Hackett said the Public Transport Service Corporation, which monitors the school transport service, is working closely with the police and the fire service, on the division's behalf, "to gather a full understanding of the cause of this incident. A comprehensive report is expected soon, and once it is received, the findings will be communicated to the public."
Hackett said she empathised with "the students, the drivers, and their families as they navigate this unsettling experience."
