Pan-only Monday will not work

THE EDITOR: While I agree (to some extent) with a letter by C Peters advocating that only steelpan music be played on Carnival Monday on the road, there are many masqueraders who would object to this.

I suspect Peters's idea stems from the recent suggestion to include pan on the national coat of arms. This, in my opinion, would not be acceptable to masqueraders, and they in no small way contribute to the Carnival revenue.

Apart from that, the number of steelbands that actually come out on Carnival days (apart from J'Ouvert) has diminished drastically. Let’s find out why.
