Police find cocaine near San Juan market

North Eastern Division Police, on Thursday, found and seized a firearm, ammunition and cocaine during anti-crime exercises in the district.
On Second Street near the San Juan Market, officers searched a cardboard box lying next to a drain and found 23 grams of cocaine.
Later, officers on patrol in Geranium Drive saw two men dressed in dark coloured clothing, one of whom was holding a black bag in his hand.
Upon seeing the police vehicle, the man dropped the bag and both men ran through a nearby track and escaped.
Police seized the bag which contained a gun and eight rounds of .9mm ammunition.
The exercise was co-ordinated by ACP Oswain Subero, Snr Supt Edwards, WSupt George, ASP Callender, Ag Insp Ramsingh and Sgt Martin.
