Tyra Gittens-Spotsville 12th in long jump at World Indoors

TYRA Gittens-Spotsville finished 12th in the women's long jump event at the World Athletics Indoor Championships in Nanjing, China, on March 23.
Her best effort was a 6.36-metre leap, which was far behind the top jumpers.
Gittens-Spotsville, Chinese athlete Yingying Huang (6.39m) and Serbia athlete Milica Gardasevic (6.33m) finished between positions 11 and 13, the last three places in the field. As a result, the athletes were not allowed three more attempts.
Winning the event was American Claire Bryant with a 6.96m effort. She won gold comfortably as second-placed Annik Kalin of Switzerland disturbed the sand at the 6.83m mark and Spanish athlete Fatima Diame was third with a 6.72m jump.
A day earlier, TT sprinter Michelle-Lee Ahye was eliminated at the semifinal stage of the women's 60m event. In semifinal one, Ahye ended sixth in 7.31 seconds to miss out on a place in the final as only the top three advanced.
Italian Zaynab Dosso won the semifinal race in 7.07, followed by Great Britain's Amy Hunt in 7.15 and Xiaojing Liang of China in 7.17.
In the heats, Ahye was fifth in heat five in 7.28 which was enough to progress.
