SHIVA Boys' Hindu College and Queen's Royal College (QRC) will feature in the premier division of the PowerGen Secondary Schools Cricket League next year, after winning the south and north championship divisions respectively.

Shiva Boys' Hindu clinched the south championship crown last month in the six-team division. Shiva ended with a record of three wins, one no-result and a victory by forfeit. A victory for Shiva over Rio Claro East Secondary sealed the crown for the former on February 18 at Union Hall Grounds in San Fernando.

Shiva posted 214/9 in 50 overs batting first. Kiran Singh cracked 55 off 89 balls to lead the way. Jeromie Joseph and Shane Rambarat bagged 3/40 and 3/36 respectively for Rio Claro.

Rio Claro captain Stevon Gomez kept his team in the contest with a brilliant knock of 147 off 96 balls (12 fours, 11 sixes), but it was not enough as Rio Claro were restricted to 186 all out in 41.1 overs.

Jaden Seurattan was the pick of the bowlers for Shiva Boys, snatching 3/22 in 8.1 overs.

QRC also had an impressive run in the north championship, winning five matches and losing one.

On March 11, QRC defeated Tunapuna Secondary by 93 runs at the Knowles Street Recreation Ground in Curepe to book a spot in the premier division.

QRC took first strike and scored 195 all out in 35 overs. Kemuel Yard struck an unbeaten 52 for the Royalians.

Sameer Maraj tried his best to contain the QRC batsmen with figures of 5/27.

Yard showed his ability with the ball also, grabbing 3/3 as Tunapuna were dismissed for 107 in 25 overs. C O'Connor and A Kassiram both scored 21 for Tunapuna.

Shiva Boys and QRC will meet for the championship title on a date to be determined.
