Daron Dhanraj grabs seven as Central whip South in U-17 cricket

LEFT-ARM spinner Daron Dhanraj continued to have a memorable year on the cricket field. In round one of the TT Cricket Board Under-17 Interzone tournament on March 12, Dhanraj took seven wickets for 11 runs in ten overs to guide Central to an easy win over South at the Naparima College Grounds in San Fernando.
Dhanraj, who was instrumental in leading Presentation College Chaguanas to the Secondary Schools Cricket League premier division title last week, was the chief destroyer as South were skittled out for 82 in 31.1 overs. L Ghanny and Roberto Badree scored 25 and 17 respectively for South.
In reply, Saleem Khan struck 39 not out and Christiano Ramanan hit 18 not out as Central cruised to 88/2 in 15.3 overs. Aaden Owen was the only South bowler among the wickets, taking 2/21.
In other matches, East defeated North by 83 runs at Honeymoon Park in El Dorado and South East crushed South West by 244 runs at the NMO Cricket Ground.
Round two will be played on March 19.
