OPPOSITION Leader Kamla Persad-Bissessar, in a statement on January 21, stood by her criticism of the former Joe Biden administration which she had made on January 20 after praising the inauguration of US President Donald Trump.

She cited 20 complaints against the former administration, mostly concerning the treatment of children and alleged curbs of freedom of expression.

"Of course I stand by my comments," Persad-Bissessar said. "I believe the previous administration was an absolute disaster."

She added, "People want common-sense policies and equal opportunities based on merit, excellence, and intelligence and are fed up with woke, far-left, nonsensical policies that are based on the use of identity politics, moral superiority and division. People want to live, enjoy, and be happy without the State intruding on their personal space.

"My record will show that since 2020, I have been advocating against this woke far-left extreme insanity. It is time for the world to move on from the insanity and destructive, divisive policies of the Joe Biden Democrat administration."

Saying the PNM and other critics of her previous statement have come out supporting the Joe Biden administration, she said these people must now state if they support a list of 20 occurrences which she said had happened under the Biden regime.

Regarding children, she cited tampons in teenage boys' bathrooms, puberty blockers for teens without parental consent, gender reassignment surgery for children, sexualisation and grooming of children under the guise of human rights, adult men use the same public wash-rooms as little girls and women, and drag queen shows in schools and libraries in front of children. Also on the issue of gender, she questioned biological men participating in women's sports plus the use of gender pronouns.

Also regarding children, she asked if her critics supported the slaughter of 18,000 children in Gaza.

Persad-Bissessar questioned free speech issues especially on social media, asking if her critics supported censorship of free speech, cancel culture, virtue-signalling and social media shadow-banning.

Regarding governance, Persad-Bissessar asked if her critics supported forced health mandates, de-funding the police, the removal of religion from schools and public institutions, and the persecution of individuals for holding to their religious beliefs.

She alleged a "two-tiered justice system" and the "weaponisation of the judicial system against persons with opposing opinions."

Persad-Bissessar then accused the Biden administration of "high levels of inflation, crime, nepotism and corruption."
